at the spring shoot I think we had some of the best conditions we have had, still the wind does some weird stuff at the bottom of that ridge/creek interface but that's what makes it interesting!

I shot 2 more groups last nite at 400 yards. If you click on the picture the target will change positions .The target will then be in the position as it was posted when I shot. I made sure last nite i kept the level on my gun level. That took 99 percent of my right out . Last nite I had a little right to left wind . Because of my right wind I gave my turrents no adjustment because of my tenency to shoot right for what ever reason . I think possibly the reason i shoot right is because i basically shoot one handed . My left hand is holding that sock filled with sand for elvation and my right hand is more or less just squeezing the trigger . Upon ignition my gun has a tendancy to twist right .Its pretty bad with this stock because this stock is a hunting stock the forearm is basically round . I have another stock but hate to change things . A couple of interesting things happened last nite . 1st 3 shot group measured 1.5 inches center to center. My second group measured 2.0 center to center to center . These 2 groups were shot cosecutively. The 2nd group (2''group) the temp dropped drastically causing that group to shoot 1 inch lower with the same hold. Also the secound group my secound shot which was about a 1 inch lower in that group went down my barrel extreemly hard . It is amazing how any little change in conditions in any way really show up! I just wanted to thank everyone for the heads up on gun canting .It seemed to make a huge difference !

Nice shooting. It looks like the shots are very consistent. 1/2 moa or better at 400 yards is hard to beat.
What results do you get when you control the recoil with your left hand?
Also, how much shoulder pressure do you apply to the stock?
Last, I have found that I must be very consistent in front bag placement if I shoot without holding the stock with my left hand and that I have to keep the front bag close to the front of the stock to insure no muzzle rise. I still get the rifle twist that you describe and the rifle tends to group to the right.
Because of this, I first tried shooting with my hand resting on top of the front scope ring. This helped but I never felt comfortable doing it and also knew that I would get the same or better results by gently holding the stock with my left hand.

I have tried holding the top of my scope with my left hand also . I couldnt shoot as well . My shoulder pressure is snug . I try not to grip the gun tight . I pretty much let the gun twist . I just about have to shoot one handed . My left arm has been broken 3 times . My elbow wont allow my arm to twist enough to grip the stock comfortably. I need to find a target stock that i like or put some sort of plate on the bottom of my stock . For now im gonna leave things alone .

I also agree with the bag placement . I have found shooting one handed i need to make sure i have enough barrel weight out front to avoid vertical stringing .

Thanks for the feedback. I am just getting started and trying a lots of different things as I have time. It caught my attention when you stated you were shooting one handed squeezing the rear bag.
With my gun, the recoil is manageable using one hand. My follow through is better using two.
Let us know if you go with a plate in the future. Seems like it would help manage the tendency for the rifle to twist on recoil. Using a front bag, I get best results using my fist and knocking the gun firmly into the rest and then sliding it back and forth to make sure it is settled firmly into the bags. When I get it right, the gun does not twist at all that I can tell, slides for to point of aim after fire, and groups are tight. Have to be careful. Caught the edge of my scope and cut my finger beating the forearm into the bag.

Thank you for the info . I have plenty to learn . I will eventually have a flat bottom stock or im gonna build a plate . I just cant find a flat bottom stock that i like . I bought a Bobbyhart bench rest stock but i hate it . I just really like the feal of this goofy looking GRS stock . GRS makes a Hybrid stock and a benchrest model that i might try . If i get one ill shoot some groups to compare and try to post the results.

Doug good shooting. But your rear bag setup is really not up to the task. Unfortunately the stock design also does not let you use a good rabbit ear style sand bag. You should be able to find a bag that will fit behind the pistol grip of the stock since that area mostly flat. You can get a bag from Protektor with mid height ears and different overall lengths they will make you a custom bag at a very reasonable cost. You correct this problem and your groups will shrink.
